Review: Jouer Matte Moisture Tint

Now that summer is here, I have to swap my current favorite dewy-finish BB cream out for something more matte because within a few hours of being out in the summer heat, my face gets so shiny I might be arrested for blinding people on the streets.

Reenter my other love, Jouer, which I used all the time before its position was usurped by above-mentioned BB cream during spring.

I’ve never heard of this brand until one day when I was watching a makeup tutorial on Youtube. The moment the scene changed from her bare face to post-Jouer face, my jaw fell.

WHAT SORCERY WAS THAT?!

After picking up my jaw and replaying the scenes a few more times, I clicked on the link in the description box and purchased it on the spot. The happiest thing was that I was in USA then, so I didn’t have to wait too long before it arrived!

JOUER MATTE MOISTURE TINT

This is a tinted moisturizer and dries matte, which is absolutely perfect for the summer! Even hours after application, most of my face remains pretty much shine-free, with a bit of shine only on the nose area (for the record, I have dry skin).

I do think “matte moisturizer” is a bit of a conundrum in itself though. I didn’t find it to be moisturizing at all – I actually found it slightly drying! – despite the fact that it is supposed to be a moisturizer. But on the other hand, it could feel like it’s drying because of the matte finish. It’s complicated. But the problem can be solved by applying (real) moisturizer before makeup during drier months. I don’t really need it during summer though.

After application, the skin feels like what most would describe as a “velvety smooth” texture. I can’t say I’m a big fan of it. Feels… artificial to me for some reason. Does it make sense? But I rarely touch my face after makeup (it’s extremely unhygenic! and can also be the cause of skin problems) so it doesn’t bother me after I finish my makeup application.

The best thing about Jouer Matte Moisture Tint is that I really love how it just makes most imperfections fade away without looking like you put on anything at all. It still looks like your skin, just much better. It’s not extremely heavy coverage, because some of my spots and freckles still peek through, but it’s also the same reason why it still looks so natural.

I don’t know how Jouer does it, but if I had to say, I’d call it… magic.

Wearing Jourer Matte Moisture Tint (I didn’t use any powder apart from under the eyes and on the nose)

Verdict

If you can’t tell (I have absolutely no idea why you wouldn’t be able to…) I absolutely adore this!!! This is photoshop in a tube, guys! This has definitely earned a solid place in my makeup faves.

While I was applying makeup, my sister happened to see how my face transformed and she got me to buy one for her too.

I love this so much I went ahead and bought the Luminizing version as well! I haven’t opened it to try yet; one tube of magic at a time! If it can counter the dryness problem, that would really, really rock my socks. Otherwise, it’s not a big deal to wear a slightly heavier moisturizer under this.
