Which Hada Crie Model Should I Buy?

12 November 2015

WhichHadaCrie

Ever since I wrote about Hada Crie on my main blog two years ago, I have received literally hundreds of comments about it. I’ve become a little bit of a Hada Crie expert (lol) so I will share all there is to know about Hada Crie in 2 instalments:

By the way, if you have no idea what Hada Crie is, it is a beauty gadget by Hitachi (a Japanese brand) that emits positive and negative ions. Using these ions, it draws out impurities from deep within the skin as well as moisturizes the skin.

Of all the comments I’ve received, the most common of all was always along the lines of “Should I buy X or Y?” “What is the difference between A and B?” “Which Hada Crie model should I buy?”

You won’t believe the number of times I’ve been asked!

Therefore, let me attempt to address this once and for all. Instead of just recommending which model to buy, I think it’s more important for one to understand what the different models offer and then make the choice yourself, because no one knows your skin and needs better than you!

STEP ONE: WHAT’S AVAILABLE?

Here are all the models that have been released to date.

First generation: N810 & N1000
Released in 2011

HadaCrie-Gen1

— —

Second generation: N820 & N2000
Released in 2013

HadaCrie-Gen2

— —

Third generation: N830/N02 & N3000/N03
Released in 2015

HadaCrie-Gen3

— —

With every new generation released, production of the previous generation ceases in Japan. The units already produced are all that remains for sale. With that in mind, I will not include the first generation models in the discussion because there are very little units of them left in the market (and the prices are actually more expensive than the newer models! Ridiculous.)

STEP ONE-B: SIMPLIFYING THINGS

To make things easy to understand, there are essentially just 2 different models:

HadaCrie-2models

N830 and N3000 are the newer versions of N820 and N2000 respectively. That is all.

STEP TWO: UNDERSTANDING THE DIFFERENCES

Many people are often confused between the models. Hopefully this will help clear things up.

HadaCrie-Differences

— —

HadaCrie-Diff1

— — HadaCrie-Diff2

STEP THREE: EVALUATE YOUR NEEDS

Consider the following questions and rank them in order of priority:

  • How important is the Hot&Cool function?
  • How important is it to be able to use the gadget cordless?
  • How important is the length of time taken for each mode?
  • How important is the timer function?
  • How important is the price?

Hopefully you didn’t rank everything equally important, because no Hada Crie model that has all of the above exists. At least not right now :)

Check your ranking against the list below and whichever model appears the most, should be the one most suitable for you.

“Yes, Hot&Cool funtion is extremely important!”

N2000 or N3000.

“Yes, using it cordless is extremely important!”

N820 or N830.

“Yes, it’s extremely important for the time taken to be as short as possible!”

N2000 or N3000.

“Yes, the timer function is extremely important!”

N830 or N3000.

“Yes, the price should be as low as possible!”

N820 or N2000.

STEP FOUR: DECIDE & PURCHASE

Hopefully by the time you reach this part of the post, you have a much better idea of which Hada Crie model best suits you!

Here is a list of the models and prices for comparison (accurate at the time of writing):

N820: Amazon: $82.66 + s/h | eBay: $113.27, free shipping

N830/N02: Amazon: $138, free shipping | eBay: $145, free shipping

N2000: Amazon: $159.74, free shipping | eBay: $166.57, free shipping

N3000/N03Amazon: $213.95, free shipping | eBay: $212, free shipping

If buying Hada Crie in Japan, most big electronic store chains like Yodobashi or Bic Camera sells them. Note that they only sell the latest generation of models (in this case, N3000 and N830) though.

I hope this post is helpful to anyone who is considering buying Hada Crie! If you read this post and still have any questions (hopefully not, since I believe I explained everything there is to explain lol) please comment below!

    Hi Rin,
Thank you so much for your awesome comparison. It helps me so much to decide and understand which one i want to get. For a question i might want to know, which stores in Japan that i could buy this product? As buying online abit unsafe as i know there’re already fake version of it. Thanks u.

    Hi Vivian,
You’re welcome; glad you found it helpful! Did you decide on which model to get?
As for where to get them in Japan, I’ve updated the post. Basically you can find them in big electronic stores like Yodobashi and Bic Camera (they only stock the latest models though).

Hi Rin! Thanks for the write up, its so helpful! I was wondering is your online store still around? Or how do i purchase this at the lowest price because i am from Singapore

    • Reply Rin 10 December 2015 at 1:34 am

      Hi Erina,

Glad you found it helpful :)
Ah, I closed my online store a while back!
You can buy it online still though (links above). Amazon doesn’t ship directly to Singapore but you can use a forwarding service, or you can buy from eBay as the sellers ship worldwide, including Singapore.

Alternatively, I can help you buy it, for a small commission. I’m actually just about to leave for a trip though, so if you are interested, just let me know and I’ll contact you when I am back next week :)

Hi Rin! Thanks for the reply. I only manage to see it today. If I were to trouble you to get it for me how much would that cost me in total in SGD? And did you hear about Panasonic Ion Effector EH-ST51? It seems to work a little like Hada Crie But i cant find any review online. Probably it might be popular in Japan.

          Hi Erina,
Which model are you thinking of getting?
And I haven’t had any experience with the Panasonic product you mentioned, unfortunately :/

    Hi Sharene,

Just wanted to let you know the new Hitachi Hada Crie models are out. Models CM-N4000 and CM-N840 respectively.

Here is the link to it. Too bad I can’t read japanese. So I can’t tell what’s the new feature in this from the previous models.

    Enjoy!

      Hi Kelly,

Wow, thanks! You’re like my Hada Crie informant! Why do you always know when they come out?!
(My first reaction was “Whaaaat? New models again? So soon?!”)

They’ll be released in February 2016 and glancing through it quickly, N4000 seems to have gone cordless and has some kind of memory function. N840’s main changes, are in the battery, with the charging time cut down to 1 hour (from N830’s 5 hours) and each charge allows more uses before recharging.

        Hi Rin,

Thank you for the explanation. I’d like to add one point to N840,it seems become hot mode in comparison with N830.

The N840 looks great, but I need to wait it reach UK market. It may take a long time. What would you recommend, wait or buy N830.

        • Reply Rin 23 February 2016 at 12:25 am

          Hi Leanne,

You’re right. N840 has the warm function added.

I think it depends on the price of N840 when it is available in your country.
At the moment, N840 is twice the price of N830 in Japan, so based on that, I personally would buy the N830. But that’s just for me. If the hot function is important to you and you can justify the price, then go for it! :)

    Hi Rin,
I’m currently in Japan and looking for a N2000 Hada Crie. However, as you mentioned, the big electronic stores in Japan now only sell N4000 and N840. Could you please advise if there are any other ways to buy this old model in Tokyo? I will be here till 3rd April.

    Thank you

    • Reply Rin 27 March 2016 at 3:58 am

      Hi Pham,
I’m not sure if you can read Japanese, but if you can, the most straightforward way is to purchase it online. Is there any particular reason why you want to get N2000 though? N840 is very similar to N2000 and their prices are not too different. That might be a model to consider if you aren’t able to find the N2000.

      • Reply Pham 28 March 2016 at 9:35 am

Thanks Rin. I already bought N4000 for its cordless!!!!

          Yay! Enjoy using it!

          Any review for the n4000?

          • Rin 11 May 2016 at 11:22 pm

I don’t plan on buying the N4000, so there won’t be a review. However, if you meant comparing N4000/N840 to the rest, I might do it some time later (it takes quite a bit of effort to organize the information and prepare the diagrams).

  • Reply Jaz 10 April 2016 at 7:03 pm

Hi Rin, do you think the hot and cold function is enough to justify for the price difference? If yes, which is more important (hot or cold or both?) I’ll be in japan next week and hope to get it there.. do you know if tourists get tax rebates?
    Thank you!!

    • Reply Rin 13 April 2016 at 1:10 am

Hi Jaz, now that I own a hot & cool model, I find that it isn’t really necessary for my skin. But I know some people prefer it, so it really boils down to personal preference. Hot and cool should work together; you shouldn’t only have one of the function. Yes, the stores that I’ve listed above are tax-free when your purchase is above is a certain amount (and a Hada Crie more than meets the minimum amount).

  • Reply Manwai 17 May 2016 at 1:50 pm

Hi Rin, I am so glad I came across your post. Your post is so informative and thanks for all your hard work. I am interested in getting the N830 hoping the improved waveforms may do a better job on my dry skin or wait for the price to go down a bit ( I am very patient when it comes to saving money ^^) on N4000 which is wireless and comes with hot & cold plates. I have heard a youtuber saying that she found model with hot plate uses more cleansing lotion because the heat is drying up the liquid faster. I was wondering do you find the same? Thank you.

    • Reply Rin 20 May 2016 at 2:16 am

      Hi Manwai, you’re welcome :)
Hmmm, I don’t have a non-hot plate model so I cannot compare and say for sure if the hot plate uses more product, but considering that the amount used each time is very small, I personally feel that the impact is minimal, if any.

  • Reply LilyP 25 July 2016 at 6:01 pm

Stumbled upon your blog – definitely convinced me to buy Hada Crie!! Such great reviews 😊 Read other reviews that the cold plate doesn’t really make a huge difference to pore size but I was still keen on the hot plate. Now that the n840 model offers hot function as well, i really can’t decide between n4000 and n840!

Ps: if you can read traditional Chinese, this is quite a good review of n4000.

    Hello Rin,

Thank you for the super useful comparisons! I recently just bought the N3000 (thanks to your information :D) and am not sure if I am using it correctly. Whenever I try to hold the back handle and hold it on my face it doesn’t vibrate correctly. On Step 1 it would vibrate a few times and then completely stop, same with Step 2’s longer vibrations. Is it because I am holding the back too tight, or is it cause the cotton pad I am using is not right?

I would really appreciate it if you let me know of what kinds of vibrations I am supposed to be feeling in each step ><.

    Thank you so much <33

    Hi RIN,
What is your current skincare routine?( Products and steps)

    • Reply Rin 28 August 2016 at 11:52 am

      Hi Jon,

My skincare routine is pretty simple! (mostly because I’m lazy, so I find the simplest way out haha)

      Morning
      – Rinse with water (no cleanser)
      Toner
      Essence

      Night
      Oil cleansing
      2nd cleansing
      Toner
      Essence
      – Oil (Lee Jiham Vita Propolis Ampoule)

Sometimes when I’m particularly tired/lazy, I replace ALL the steps (except cleansing) with this all-in-one.

This has worked well for me, but everyone’s skin is different, so I hope you find something that works for you! :)

      • Reply JON 31 August 2016 at 5:00 pm

Wow! I think i’lll try some of these. :D I haven’t found what works for me yet.
        You do not use sunscreen?

        Thanks!

        • Reply Rin 31 August 2016 at 7:33 pm

I hope you’ll find a routine that works for you! In the meantime, have fun experimenting ;)

Ah, I didn’t think to include sunscreen. I’m a fervent advocate of sun care and would never leave house without sunscreen!

A while back I was using Shigaisen Yohou, and when I finished my tube, I decided to test out a new sunscreen (Missha’s All-around Waterproof Sun) in favor of the warmer weather. The price is definitely very attractive; I’m just not sure how I feel about the smell. It’s also more difficult to spread compared to Shigaisen Yohou. But otherwise, so far so good.

Do note that my personal preferences sway towards physical (rather than chemical) sunscreens so my selection is rather limited. If you don’t have any particular preferences, you will have a huge range of other sunscreens to choose from :)

          • JON 1 September 2016 at 11:38 am

okay! I didn’t know that there were 2 types of sunscreens. I think ill try using physical.
Do you have any product recommendations for exfoliating?
Am i supposed to exfoliate twice a week?
and if i use the Hada Crie do i still need to exfoliate?

Thank you! helps a lot because i want to get serious about taking care of my skin. I’ve been battling acne for a long time and haven’t been taking care of my skin. i will try anything to improve the overall appearance of my skin from here on out.

          • Rin 1 September 2016 at 1:23 pm

This will be a good read if you’re new to sunscreens. By the way, most chemical sunscreens contain physical filters as well, so it’s mostly choosing between physical vs chemical-physical-hybrid.

            For exfoliating, I love this!

Yes; in fact, I exfoliate right before I use Hada Crie to help better prep the skin for absorbing the products.

If you have serious acne problems, you might want to consult a dermatologist to help you at the start. But yay for taking charge of your skincare! It does take some time for you to figure out what works for your skin as well as for the results to show, but hang in there and don’t give up!

  • Reply JON 2 September 2016 at 1:13 pm

    ohh!
you exfoliate every morning and night?
    Do you use a moisturizer?
    Any recommendations on Eye Creams?

I’ll try that product for exfoliating :D. I’ve never used a peeling gel for exfoliation.

    Thanks!

    • Reply Rin 3 September 2016 at 12:11 am

Ahh, I use Hada Crie once a week so I exfoliate once a week. But if I want to use Hada Crie more often than once a week, then I just do without exfoliating.
Btw, you shouldn’t exfoliate more than 1-2 times a week because it isn’t good for the skin!

I’ve been testing a few things, but haven’t found a moisturizer I love yet, so I can’t heartily recommend any. It’s also summer now so I’m skipping the moisturizer :P

I don’t use any special products for the eye area; I use the same items for my entire face! (except exfoliating or acid products like vitamin c serum, etc. those I don’t apply around the eye)

      • Reply JON 4 September 2016 at 4:51 pm

okay! Thanks for the warning on the 1-2 times a week!

I asked so many questions :O Thank you for answering all of them :D!

        Thanks!

        • Reply Rin 4 September 2016 at 8:06 pm

No problem at all! Glad I could help :)

Just remember to listen to your skin and you’ll work out a routine eventually. Here’s to good skin! :D

  • Reply JON 5 September 2016 at 3:21 pm

OH! i forgot about the cleaning process.
How do you clean your hada crie?
Do you just wipe the titanium plate with water?

    Thanks!

    • Reply Rin 5 September 2016 at 10:40 pm

Yup, I wipe the plates with wet tissues (tissue spritzed with water).

I want to buy a Hada Cries N4000 from Australia. Someone tells me the price is $415 aud while on ebay is 198 aud. That make me confusing, I’m not sure the one on ebay is authentic or not. Please let me know the price at Japan if you know.

    Hi !
Finally, I think I’m going to purchase the hada crie after having known about it for about 3 years ^^ (I find myself having more spots and larger pores than before).
However, I’m having some doubt about the model. I can say that using it cordless is more important to me than the Hot&Cold fonction. So I’m leaning towards the N-8xx models. However, while browsing internet to find a good model with a good price, I noticed that the newest model, the N-830 is cheaper than the previous ones which I find quite puzzling ; Is it because the previous ones are more effective and the newest one has less functions ? I don’t really understand.
Furthermore what does the “W” stands for in some models ?
I found a CM-N830-W for about 100$ and I want to make sure before buying it.
