Cleanser Love!

Review: FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil

25 July 2015

FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil has been around for several years and many of you have probably heard of it before in one form or another, so why this review?

Because even though it’s not the newest or coolest kid on the block, I wanted to share with everyone how much I like this and why it’s my favorite makeup remover!

I’ve tried many brands of makeup removers, including the famous Bifesta (which was my previous love), but FANCL still remains my favorite of the lot. Even when I occasionally stray and venture out to try other brands, I still end up coming back to FANCL.

FANCL’s original Perfect Blend Oil dissolves and removes the most stubborn makeup, eye makeup, even pore-clogging dirt and oil instantly. It is formulated with the best balance of carefully-selected oil and cleansing ingredients, it won’t leave any residue.

The unique Smooth Cushion Oil glides so effortlessly to wrap and remove any makeup and dirt without stripping natural oil from your skin, leaving your skin soft and moisturized.

It is also ranked #1 on @cosme, a popular Japanese beauty community website.

How to use

With dry hands and a dry face, dispense 2 pumps (or 3 if you have really heavy makeup) into the palm of your hand and gently massage onto the face in a circular motion.

Rinse clean with lukewarm water (the clear liquid will turn milky white as it emulsifies) and follow up with cleanser. Always double-cleanse!

TIP: Instructions state that the cleansing oil can also be used with a damp face, but I personally find that it works best when completely dry.

I like the box it came in! It’s a rather unique and clever packaging.

Once it’s open, it cannot be resealed, so you know you’re getting a product that no one else touched! Perfect for OCD people like me.

(on the freshness sticker in the last photo, you’re supposed to write the date you start using it and the date it expires but I haven’t done it yet)

Texture & Scent

FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil is a clear, scentless liquid. It is just the right consistency – not too thick, not too watery – and spreads easily on the face! The old formula (before 2012) was thicker, and while I liked it then, I like it even more now because it glides even more smoothly, which means even lesser burden on the skin!

used in test: waterproof mascara and eyeliner

This makeup remover does the job perfectly and is definitely a staple in my skincare products! There’s really nothing to dislike about this product. Sure, the price could be a wee bit more economical, but it’s by no means a deal breaker, especially when considering all the good points. A full-sized bottle lasts about 60 uses (2 pumps each time) which really is pretty decent for such a quality product.

I’ve been using FANCL Mild Cleansing Oil for several years now and while I will likely still try out other products from time to time (alas, such is my nature!) deep down in my heart, I know it will be very difficult to completely replace it!
