Exfoliator Meh.

Review: Cure Natural Aqua Gel

14 October 2015

Cure

I’m only about 547 years later than everyone in jumping on this Cure bandwagon, but that’s ok. Better late than never and all that jazz, right? :D

As you probably know, Cure Natural Aqua Gel has a mega reputation – apparently it has never spent a single yen on advertising, but it is said that 1 bottle of Cure is sold every 12 seconds in Japan (I think that’s a really wild claim to make, but I’m not here to argue on the accuracy of statistics today).

One of its greatest selling points is probably due to its ability to pull out dead skin like magic with just… water. Cure is made up on 90% activated hydrogen water and does not contain preservatives, fragrance, coloring, or alcohol.

Cure Natural Aqua Gel

The texture is true to its ingredient make-up, and feels almost like water. But for something that doesn’t contain alcohol, it sure smells a lot like it! It’s not the most pleasant smell, but I suppose the tradeoff is that at least it’s not added fragrance?

Cure-NAG

I use one pump’s worth on dry, cleansed skin. Dabbing a few spots around the face, I work in gentle circular motions and massage it for about a minute.

FYI: The company claims that one bottle can last 4 months if used once or twice a week. I’ve been using it for more than a month (twice weekly) but barely made a dent in the amount of product. I am doubtful I will be able to even finish it in a year!

After a bit of massaging, tiny little balls (the dead skin) form, but they don’t really roll together to become a bigger ball.

After rinsing off with warm water and patting dry with a towel, my skin feels very gently exfoliated, with no feeling of being stressed or abused, as can be the case if using a physical scrub. My skin feels smoother, but just ever-so-slightly.

Verdict

This is not a bad product, but I wasn’t impressed. My reaction was more like “Hmm. That’s it?” I guess expected a lot more for the price and hype. This is just a pretty mediocre product to me.

I will not be repurchasing this once I finish it, if it’s even a possible feat in the first place…

Personally, I much prefer Missha’s Super Aqua D-TOX Peeling Gel to Cure Natural Aqua Gel. It is much cheaper, way more effective and a lot more satisfying to use! (even though it’s not as natural as Cure)

I bought this last year to try too. Did not like it at all as it did not exfoliate well :(
So…I used it on my knees and elbows haha

I saw ur review on obagi vit C serum and I’m so interested to try. Have you heard of OST original Pure Vit C20 serum? Thinking of trying that first before obagi cos it’s cheaper =p

I will probably be using it on my elbows and knees too haha.

And yes! I’m actually using OST C20 right now! About 3/4 through the bottle now. I bought it cause I was also looking for a cheaper alternative. Will be doing a review soon. But the very short review is: I prefer Obagi C10 to OST, even with the price tag and all. Still, you can try it since it might be different for you :)
